Parasites: What Is The Big Deal? Part 1

In case your family has been considering parasite cleansing together, I figured I’d share here what we are doing. Allow me to share my thoughts on parasites. First we shouldn’t be afraid of them. We in fact need them to a degree. When we have too many we can become nutrient deficient, and have a whole slew of symptoms. Every family and person is different. In 2023 our family focused in on this due to bio-resonance tests we had, individual symptoms, me going through miscarriage in 2022, and having a horrible time recovering and healing through the trauma. Both my husband and myself found out we were very nutrient deficient despite the fact that we eat well. Parasites can take up to 90% of our nutrients. The truth is conventional docs don’t look for parasites and nor do they admit they are an issue in most cases in the USA. They don’t believe we can be nutrient deficient either because we live in such an affluent country. The truth is however we have a bastardized food system and sadly nutrient deficiency is very feasible here with stripped soil sprayed to high heaven with herbicides and pesticides, pasteurized everything on the shelves, and a fast franken food restaurant on every corner. The facts are we ALL have parasites, like I said they are even beneficial. However, they can grow and multiply rapidly without proper care. Cleansing however shouldn’t be jumped into without forethought and understanding.
Parasites have been a buzz word the past couple of years. Honestly, it’s for good reason. A parasite is an organism that lives in or on the organism of another species. There are a variety of different types of parasites that can live in our bodies and the bodies of our pets. People de-worm their pets, but never think to do the same for themselves. That is mostly due to misinformation and poor counsel from medical providers to be honest. So I hope this post will open your eyes, and give you some good steps to take before, during, and after cleansing if that’s something you believe is right for you.
Unless your practitioner is looking for parasites or is educated on parasites, it is truly probably not a topic that is going to come up. That’s what can make testing really difficult. If a conventional provider cannot test for it, they aren’t going to believe its an issue. Can we test for parasites? Well, the answer is yes and no. Conventionally, there are only a handful of tests and they only look for a few specific ones. Even though there are a variety of parasites. Also another problem is parasites can be virtually anywhere in our body, so unless a provider is looking for them, again, they aren’t going to believe it is an issue. On the flip side in the functional medicine world, parasites are talked about and treated often. the only issue there is often we need to pay for functional care out of pocket, which can be a hindrance for many people.
Know this, if you have had a slew of symptoms for a while, that an overgrowth of parasites, may be a root cause for some of them. It’s worth investigating. The best way to investigate, is to cleanse. Our children can also have parasite overgrowth. It doesn’t matter if you are vegan or vegetarian. Plants have parasites, animals have parasites, and even some you can breathe in. Please know this is not about fear, but being empowered with information. You can heal. You were not designed to be sick. This is an opportunity for growth.
What if you don’t have any symptoms? Well, first of all that’s tremendous! Does that mean you should not cleanse? No, not necessarily. I like to look at cleansing as maintenance. Some foreign countries have their inhabitants cleanse once to twice a year simply out of a healthy practice. Read up on it, do some more digging after reading this blog. Talk to your natural practitioner. Pray. Decide what is best for you.
What can make parasites overgrow? One reason is poor stomach acid. So many people today have poor digestion due to low stomach acid. Unfortunately, conventional medicine takes the route that we have too much stomach acid, when in actuality, so many people have too little. The reasons for this are multiple. Due to drinking during meals, not using quality or enough salt, excessive stress, or pharmaceutical drugs, stomach acid can be made too low. Strong and sufficient stomach acid is our body’s first line of defense. If you’ve been on any kind of acid blockers for a while, it may take some time to build this up. This is best done with a natural practitioner well verse in gut health at least at first. A few ways to support stomach acid just for general health is to use a high quality sea salt for meals and cooking, I like Baja Gold. Train yourself not to drink during meals. Don’t put a glass at the table during meals. I think eating at restaurants got us into this habit, it’s time to break it. If you eat out, ask for the glasses to be taken away once the food comes, or put them to the side somewhere to resist the temptation to mindlessly drink. Water dilutes stomach acid. Before a meal taking some organic raw apple cider vinegar in a bit of water however 5-15 minutes before a meal/snack can be very supportive.
Things to Know, Do, & Work On Before Parasite Cleansing
Before cleansing there is some prep work to be done. First step before beginning any cleanse protocol, you want to make sure that your detox pathways are open. That means you want to make sure you are peeing, pooping, and sweating. If you are not doing those things well, then that needs to be rectified. If not, the cleanse won’t work or could backfire on you. This makes eating well and enough a priority along with proper hydration. This is why working with a practitioner through a parasite cleanse and pre-prep period, which honestly could take months, can be extremely helpful. It’s okay if it takes months. It most likely took you years to get your body to the place where it’s at and now it’s screaming. We owe our bodies a few months of love. Our health and being a good steward of it is so important. Father Yah blessed us with these bodies and we need to learn how to care for them well.
The second step is you want to be sure that your body is strong enough to handle the cleanse and detox. Our bodies need energy to detox along all of the other daily duties like breathing, standing, walking talking, pooping, sleeping, thinking, etc. That all takes energy. We get our energy from food, hydration, the sun, the earth, and emotional connection with people, our work, and hobbies. If someone is already weak, rundown, or highly stressed, before the thought of cleansing can begin, that person needs their tank filled. When I work with clients I like to make sure these basics are covered before going any deeper especially with any kind of a detox. I like to spend a good 3-4 months establishing the basics if possible. The basics are strong spiritual habits in place, eating well and enough, and sleeping enough (dealing with what yields good sleep). That is hard work in itself learning how to implement and get the basics in place for the day to day. Cleansing can potentially take a lot of energy, so it’s important that the person can handle whats coming around the corner first. Cleansing is also very emotionally draining so being prepared with good habits in place and a supportive health team around you ie practitioner, spouse, other family members or friends is very important.
The third step is before beginning a protocol make sure you don’t have any contraindications with medications, etc. Everyone is different and has their own parameters. Check on allergies as well.
The fourth step is to be prepared ahead of time for this to be somewhat of an emotional process. Depending on your protocol of choice will dictate length. Also be aware that is not a one stop shop. This process, especially if it’s your first time ever cleansing for parasites that this may need to be done multiple times in one year. After that you can most likely just do a maintenance cleanse each year in the spring. You will probably feel a lot of different sensations in your body at once. You can even feel flu like the first several days, be fatigued, achy, have a headache, acne, rashes etc. Hang in there, but do please listen to your body. If something is too much, an allergy is present, you are in control here. You can pivot and do it another way. Always feel free to check in with your holistic practitioner.
Detox Pathway Support
Everyone poops, but not everyone today poops well. Constipation is an unfortunately common occurrence, but that does not make it healthy or normal. Nor is it necessarily simple to solve. We can be constipated due to parasites actually, stress, poor diet, dehydration, pharmaceutical drugs, or lack of movement. If we do not poop well, then the parasites cannot get out, and it can be a wash to cleanse. It’s a catch 22 too, because as mentioned, parasites can prevent us from pooping. So what are we to do? What you don’t do is eat tons of fiber. Fiber can be our friend, but believe it or not, it can also constipate.
Top 10 Tips To Poop Well
- Eat a balanced plate: protein/carbohydrate/fat with whole foods both animal and plant based at each meal; the body needs it all
- Move your body throughout the day, a 10-15 minute walk after each meal will promote healthy bowel movements, as well as support healthy blood sugar and lymphatic flow
- Eat every 3-4 hours, eating regularly helps us go
- Hydrate well with good sea salt in your water, sip water throughout the day, don’t guzzle, listen to your body, you don’t need tons of water despite what diet culture says, also choose foods/drinks like warm bone broth or meat-stock, fruits, coconut water, and certain veggies rich in water; adrenal cocktails 2-3x’s a day
- Don’t drink during your meals, this inhibits digestion, only drink in between, especially cold beverages
- Cook your dark leafy greens instead of eating them raw, raw greens are too hard to digest
- Increase potassium rich foods in your diet, like potatoes, beets, plantains, bananas, other fruit, potassium is a key mineral in going number two
- Eat healthy animal fats from grass fed animals like butter, ghee, and tallow; these healthy fats keep the intestines lubricated, coconut oil, while not an animal fat, is good too
- Chew your food thoroughly
- Learn how to breathe properly through the nose and do breath work daily, this is a life changing habit, and most people mouth breathe or have improper tongue placement which inhibits good nasal breathing
- ***BONUS*** Use a squatty potty or stool when trying to go and don’t rush the process, sit there for a minute, talk to your body, tell it your thankful for it, you’re proud of it, and it’s safe. Yes, I’m serious. Talk to your body. It talks to you all of the time.
- ***BONUS*** Castor Oils Packs over the abdomen; I really like the wraps by Queen of the Thrones and the castor oil by Heritage Store
Healthy Hydration
I realize you most likely pee everyday, but what you may not be doing is hydrating well. Please just do your best with this and what I’d like to do is present a good, better, best scenario. Good water is important cleansing or not. It’s ideal if it is alive or what is called structured like spring water. There are also devices that you can purchase. I don’t have one yet, but I will say I’m considering an Alkaviva Water Filter and Ionizer. That’s not an affiliate link, just trying to make it easy. I don’t like to be affiliates of products I don’t personally use.
If you can’t go that route, you want to drink filtered water or get your hands on spring water. When traveling we either bring a filter or purchase Mountain Valley Spring Water by the case in glass bottles. Having your own filter is much more cost effect than purchasing bottled water. We want to avoid water in plastic bottles whenever possible. The plastic leaches into the water, enough said. We definitely want filtered water, never tap water, even if it’s a well. There’s just too much garbage like pharmaceuticals herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, parasites, etc in the water, yes, even in water we are told is safe to drink and bathe in. We currently have a under the counter filter in our home, and previously when traveling used our Berkey.
After filtration we need to remineralize. That’s the down side to filtration, it removes the good and bad. So in order to actually hydrate, we need minerals. Minerals are the spark plugs to life! Too many people are walking around mineral deficient. Water without minerals is simply a flusher that’s very hard on the kidneys after a while. You can keep it simple and add a high quality salt to your water throughout the day like Baja Gold (use the code KHW to save 10%). You can also add a bit of potassium chloride. Occasionally, some fresh lemon or lime juice with it is very nice, and adds whole food vitamin C. Baja Gold is a great salt to cook with as well. It is micro-plastic and heavy metal free. You can use this salt and potassium chloride in adrenal cocktails as well. An additional mineral you can add to your water is magnesium. I share here the magnesium I prefer which is magnesium bicarbonate from Crucial Four (use code KHWCRUCIAL10 to save 10% on your first order). You have to mix it with carbonated water like Pellegrino to activate it. Some people use a Soda Stream. It’s very bio-available after activation. I just add an ounce or two to my water and adrenal cocktails throughout the day. Making sure we are well hydrated will not only help us stay regular, but deal the stress of daily life efficiently.
Conclusion of Part One
I hope digging into this information is helpful for you. In part two we will go over our third detox pathway that is sweating, what to eat on a parasite cleanse (I have a different perspective than most), as well as the parasite protocol my family is using. Please let me know if you have any other questions so I can try and answer them as well in the blog. May King Yeshua bless you and heal you more than you could possibly image!
