Coffee Enemas

Disclaimer: This is not medical advice & it’s for educational purposes only, as always run by new health practices by your practitioner for your own safety.

Enemas are not a new practice. They date back to the 1800’s. It used to be standard as a health practice. It wasn’t until allopathy came on the scene that it began to fade.

Truth enemas are not for everyone so do your own research as well as talking to your practitioner, hopefully a more naturally minded one who is knowledgeable about coffee enemas, so you can make the best decision for you. There are some health conditions that may prohibit coffee enemas. Avoid coffee enemas for children and pregnant women. You can also read this article that discusses those who should not engage in coffee enemas by the Gerson Institute.

Why Do A Coffee Enema

First of all it’s not new news that we live in a toxic world. We have been fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator, Yeshua Messiah. We also were not designed for this level of garbage going into our system. However, our Heavenly Father never leaves us without resources, a way out, or help. He has given us amazing plants for food and medicine. In this case we get the opportunity to utilize the coffee plant.

Due to the high level of toxic load that we need to deal with, coffee enemas are an inexpensive way at home to reduce that load along with an over all healthy lifestyle. I will say that if you have not already prioritized healthier eating (we’ll discuss what that looks like in another blog post), swapped out food storage for glass and stainless steel, removed non-stick cookware, swapped out household cleaners and detergents, swapped out make up and bodycare products, then lets start there. If you are not making those changes, then coffee enemas are kind of pointless. We don’t do this practice so we can keep shoving crud into our systems. We do this as an act of stewardship to all the Lord has given us.

Our liver is an incredible organ. It has over 600 functions. One of the many functions is to help filter our toxic load. It’s really easy to have too much in this world that we live today when we consider the food we eat, the water we drink and bathe in, (that’s another thing, we must invest in water filtration for drinking and bathing), the products we use, and everything else we come into contact with from what is put in paint, carpeting, on furniture, the air we breathe, and it just goes on and on. All the more reason why we need to support our livers and really provide a better internal environment because when our liver is healthy it’s much easier for it to do all the heavy lifting that it needs to do each day. Yes, there are amazing herbs for liver health out there, like milk thistle for example, but if your drainage pathways are closed in any way, especially digestively/in the colon, then pathogens released can recirculate. Coffee enemas support drainage.

At the end of the day, coffee enemas are a great inexpensive tool in your wellness bag. Talk to your natural practitioner about how often to utilize this tool. Some people depending on their situation do them daily, some weekly, and some monthly.

What You Need To Do A Coffee Enema

Organic Mold Free Coffee like Pure Life (We use this one.)

Silicone Enema Bag Kit (I use this one.) or Stainless Steel Bucket Kit (My husband has one like this.)

Once you have your coffee and kit, next you can started getting prepared. First clean your kits items with hot soapy water upon receiving them. I boil the silicone insertion tip for a minute or two. Everything else really just comes in contact with coffee and water.

Some doctors suggest doing a water enema first for those who may be very sensitive. Then the next enema with organic chamomile tea, then the third enema you proceed with coffee.

Now you can prepare the coffee. Add 4 cups of distilled or purified water into a medium sized pot. Do not use an aluminum pot (ditch aluminum cookware). This is really subjective because everyone has a different tolerance with the amount of coffee. You can add less coffee if you want, like even a pinch. The standard recommendation is 3 TBSP. Some people who are sensitive to caffeine are always concerned how their bodies will react, much like I was at first. I wound up being just fine.

Place the pot on the stove and bring it to a rolling boil. Do this for 5 minutes. After that turn the heat down to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove it from the stove. Using a stainless steel mesh strainer, pour it into a glass mason jar. Let it cool to the temperature of breast milk or formula you’d give to a baby to drink. If the coffee boiled down too much after straining, you can add a bit more water to the jar with the coffee.

Most people do this in the bathroom because it’s near the toilet. You can do it anywhere you like. I was told to get a exercise mat and put in down on the floor with a towel on top of it. You can even grab a pillow. This is where you will lay. Some people do it in the bathtub to make it easy to clean a mess. I don’t have a bathtub in my bathroom. You may not have any mess to clean up, but it’s possible.

If you cannot lay down, you can actually sit on the toilet and do it. if you opt to lay down you can do so on your right side or your back. Before laying down, you will need to hang up your enema bag or bucket. Make sure you have the tube clamped shut before pouring in the coffee so it doesn’t run out before you are ready. Pour the cooled coffee into the bag/bucket. Grab some coconut oil or olive oil because you will need to lubricate the insertion tip. Don’t use a harsh chemically laden lubricant, oils we eat work famously!

After inserting the tip you will unclamp the tube and the coffee will go in. Some people experience cramping, I did not. I really couldn’t even feel it going in. Ya’ll, to be honest, I was terrified before doing this the first time. There was simply no need. I could see the coffee going down the tube though, so I knew it was in.

Next your optimal goal is to hold the coffee in for 15 minutes, remove the insertion tip, and go to release it in the toilet. I was able to do this part just fine. Some people can only hold a tiny bit of liquid at a time. you won’t know this until you do it. If it starts to feel like too much, clamp the tube, and hold in the coffee for as long as you can or say 5 minutes. Then go ahead do some more coffee, clamp if you can’t get it all, hold it in again, go to the toilet, and repeat, until it’s finished. However you do it, is OKAY! I will say my own personal experience has been that sitting on the toilet may take longer than the enema. If you have a lot to be cleaned out, be prepared. The actual enema only takes 15 minutes, but releasing may be another 15 -20 minutes. I say that so you can give yourself adequate time in case you need to go somewhere, work, have little ones who need caring for, etc. I’ll say plan for about 40 minutes, especially if there’s anything to clean up. Afterwards just clean out your bag/tube/tip, and it can be clean and ready fro next time.

Extra Tips

My tips are make sure you’ve eaten one meal, and if at all possible had a bowel movement. Much like if we drink coffee it should be after a meal to aid in the capacity to handle caffiene, I follow that same advice for a coffee enema. If you’ve not eliminated, some people do a water enema first. I don’t think it really matters. Just do the enema. Poop is going to come out regardless. Let’s be honest, I mean we are talking about putting things up our butt at this point, we have no secrets, right?!

Also I think it is better to happen earlier in the day before too many meals have been had so in between breakfast and lunch. That being said any time you can factor in the enema, that’s the perfect time. Also if you happen to even become mildly stimulated earlier is better than later.

Make sure you are well hydrated and have plenty of electrolytes. Some coconut water in the morning prior would be excellent. Some people feel lightheaded afterwards. This can be due to dehydration and hunger, so again after breakfast before lunch, so then another meal is coming as well.

Ladies, just so you know, you can do this while you are on your menstrual phase of your cycle, and some doctors recommend it.

Hopefully, I made this easy to understand, and removed some fear from the process.

Do you already utilize coffee enemas as a healthy tool in your wellness box? If not, would you consider it?
